UCLA Offers 19.24% Wage Increase

UCLA offered its last, best, and final offer to Teamsters Local 2010 during bargaining on July 20, 2022. As part of its package proposal, the University proposed a 19.24% wage increase over the term of the agreement, in addition to a $2,000 lump-sum payment to all employees hired before January 1, 2022. Specifically, UCLA offered the following annual across-the-board wage increases:

• July 1, 2022:    6%;
• July 1, 2023:    4%;
• July 1, 2024:     4%; and
• July 1, 2025:     4%.

This chart, as shown below, shows the compounding effect of UCLA’s wage proposal for each classification in the unit.

UCLA maintained the previously proposed equity increases for Flooring Installers, Irrigation Mechanics, Elevator Mechanics, Carpenters, and Painters, as shown below. However, the University also agreed to establish an Equity Review Committee within 30 University business days after contract ratification, the purpose of which will be to review specific job classifications, identified by the University or Teamsters, that may require market-based equity increases in addition to the wage increases included in Article 45 (Wages).

The University also agreed to provide a $2.50/hr pay differential for all street work that is permitted. In addition, UCLA passed a Side Letter regarding Promotions and Transfers, which agreed that, within 45 University business days after contract ratification, UCLA and Teamsters Local 2010 will meet and confer on a pilot program to provide opportunities for internal promotion.  Additionally, UCLA passed a side letter limiting the implementation of the new Maintenance Mechanic classification to UCLA Housing & Hospitality and UCLA Health.

The University has listened to the Union’s concerns and has made significant movement to address those concerns. UCLA’s last, best, and final offer is reasonable and the University hopes Teamsters Local 2010 tentatively agrees to the offer.
