E-Verify Requirements on UCLA Career Opportunities Website

Effective September 8, 2009, all employers who receive federal contracts and grants are required to comply with E-Verify, an Internet-based system operated by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in partnership with the Social Security Administration (SSA). E-Verify electronically verifies employment eligibility by comparing information provided on the I-9 form to records in the DHS and SSA databases.

UCLA is required to notify job applicants of positions that require the final candidate to complete the E-Verify electronic employment verification process. As a result, PeopleAdmin has been updated to include the following:

  • A new field has been added to the Special Designations Tab in PeopleAdmin called E-Verify. When you create a job description, you will have the option to indicate that your position is an E-Verify position. Simply select the option that reads: “This position requires the final candidate to successfully pass an E-Verify check."
  • By selecting this option, the following statement will automatically be added to the job posting viewable to job seekers: “This position requires the final candidate to successfully pass an E-Verify check.” Also included is a “more information” link for job applicants who want to learn more about E-Verify.
  • E-Verify posters in English and Spanish are available on the UCLA Career Opportunities website, as well as in Related Information.

These procedures will provide consistent methods for ensuring job applicants are aware of E-Verify. If you have any questions regarding E-Verify, contact your Campus Human Resources’ Employment Consultant.
