Increase for University Professional & Technical Employees (UPTE)

Pursuant to the agreement between the University of California and the University Professional and Technical Employees (UPTE), UCLA will be implementing the following salary actions for Research (RX) and Technical (TX) unit employees effective January 1, 2013, for monthly paid employees and January 6, 2013, for biweekly paid employees.

Step Increase

Research (RX)

  • Non-probationary career employees will receive a 1-step increase within range.
  • Eligible employees must have an overall performance evaluation rating of satisfactory or better or deemed to be satisfactory.
  • Step increases will be processed centrally by CHR Compensation. If the employee is ineligible for the step increase due to performance, please notify CHR Compensation Consultant Lucie Dean by January 6, 2013.

Technical (TX)

  • Non-probationary career employees will receive a 1/2-step increase within range.

Note: Central processing of step increase will only occur for employees properly coded in EDB. If an employee’s next salary review type is coded incorrectly in EDB or left blank, their record will not be updated. In these cases, departments will need to manually process the merit.

New rates for biweekly paid employees will be reflected on the January 30, 2013, paycheck for which IPAY screens can be reviewed on January 25, 2013. New rates for monthly paid employees will be reflected on the February 1, 2013, paycheck for which IPAY screens can be reviewed on January 28, 2013. Departments can view the new rates in EDB on January 14, 2013.

EDB Freeze

Please withhold processing any changes to employees receiving the step increase from December 20, 2012, thru January 12, 2013. During this period, any changes made in EDB for employees included in this process will disrupt the employee’s increase. If this occurs, EDB preparers must manually process the step increase.
