What is the systemwide survey and how was the survey developed?
Beginning April 27, the University of California will initiate its 6th systemwide Staff Engagement Survey. The systemwide survey is designed to survey eligible participants across multiple UC locations. The survey was developed by a systemwide workgroup and UC Systemwide Human Resources, in partnership with UC’s external partner, a third-party vendor, who will conduct the survey on UC’s behalf.
Why does the University of California conduct this systemwide survey?
As UC strives to provide a positive and fulfilling work environment, understanding our employees’ experiences, perspectives, and engagement is essential to strengthening our workplace culture and supporting our community.
Who is eligible to take the survey?
Campus-based policy-covered career staff with at least 50% appointments will receive an email from UC Employee Engagement Survey Team, with an invitation to take the survey. Our intent is to expand the systemwide survey to a broader group of staff in future systemwide engagement surveys.
How is this Systemwide survey different from surveys conducted by my UC location?
This systemwide effort is separate and distinct from location-based surveys. It is your opportunity to provide direct feedback not only to the leadership at your location but also at the Office of the President.
Is participation in the survey mandatory?
No. The survey is voluntary, but we encourage you to participate because it will help the organization make improvements based on your input.
Are my survey answers confidential?
Survey responses are confidential. The survey is being conducted by a third-party vendor, who will analyze the responses and report them in aggregate. No one inside UC will have access to individual survey response data.
When will the survey be held?
The survey will open on Monday, April 27, and close on Friday, May 8.
When will survey results be available?
UC senior leadership will receive results this summer. From there, we anticipate that results will be communicated through layers of the organization. This will give each level of leadership a chance to consider how they might address concerns or celebrate positive achievements.
How will the results of the survey be used?
Data from the survey will identify critical drivers of employee satisfaction and engagement, uncover areas for improvement, and help UC develop targeted strategies to enhance the employee experience.
Who should I contact if I have technical issues or questions about the survey?
Send questions or technical concerns to swengagementsurvey@ucop.edu.
