Health Care Facilitator Program

The UCLA Health Care Facilitator (HCF) Program began in 2002. Our program is here to help faculty, staff, retirees, survivors and eligible family members with complicated issues that you have not been able to resolve on your own. For assistance, contact us.

Whom does the HCF Program Serve?

The HCF Program serves active and retired UCLA Health System and UCLA Campus faculty and staff and their eligible dependents and survivors.

The two-person UCLA HCF Program serves:

  • More than 54,000 active employees and their covered dependents
  • More than 18,000 retirees and their covered dependents

For more information see the Health Care Facilitator Program Brochure.

The lead article in the Council of UC Emeriti Associations April 2014 Newsletter is an excellent primer on the HCF Program, including its history and role, its relationship with Benefits offices and UCOP, as well as its funding and future.

When should you call the HCF Program?

The health care facilitator program can assist you with:

  • Escalating billing problems which you have been unable to resolve yourself
  • Understanding your insurance plan Evidence of Coverage booklet
  • Medicare coordination of benefits
  • Intervening to resolve problems of coverage, access and administrative processes

Before you contact your HCF Program

  1. Take time to understand your benefits - Log onto UCnet and review your Evidence of Coverage (EOC) booklet. Check if there are any plan limitations or exclusions to your health plan.
  2. Call your medical plan - Your plan can answer questions about your coverage, authorization requirements, provider networks and help you change your primary care physician (PCP).
  3. Contact your medical provider’s office or the billing office if you receive a bill, call the provider to make sure they billed your insurance.
