UC offers a choice between a pension and a standalone 401(k)-style account — along with savings programs and educational and counseling resources to help you plan for a secure and rewarding retirement.

University of California Retirement Plan (UCRP)

UCRP is the primary plan for most full-time employees, a choice of either a pension plan or a 401k-style plan, the specifics of which depends upon your date of hire and bargaining unit.

Retirement Savings Plans

The 403(b) Plan, 457(b) Plan and Defined Contribution Plan are optional plans in addition to your primary plan to save additional money to have the standard of living you want in retirement.

UC Retirement Choice Program

For employees hired July 1, 2016, and after who are subject to the maximum on pensionable earnings under the California Public Employees’ Pension Reform Act.
