Re: UC Management Development Program
Campus Human Resources is pleased to announce the 2015 UC Management Development Program and requests nominees for participation in this high-profile development opportunity. This dynamic program is designed to strengthen leadership capability in three core competencies – People Management, Employee Engagement and Change Management. The program is intended for managers at MSP Grade 2 and above (or equivalent classifications), especially those who manage supervisors and/or lead complex programs or projects.
The University of California Office of the President (UCOP) commissioned three industry leaders in talent management and leadership development – Towers Watson, Blessing White, and Development Dimensions International – to create an energizing program that is relevant to the demands facing University managers. Continuous improvements are made to the program based on the input of past participants and review of emerging organizational needs. Attendees will participate in work-group discussions relevant to the UC context, including practical application and action planning.
The updated program consists of three full-day and one half-day modules:
- March 18: Module 1 – Manager Redefined: Redefine your role as a manager and leader who encourages and guides employees, advances teamwork, inspires trust and optimizes results.
- April 8: Module 2 – Employee Engagement: Create a workplace environment that promotes employee engagement and development.
- April 29: Module 3, Part 1 – Change: Develop strategic approaches to making organizational change.
- April 30: Module 3, Part 2 – Influence: Improve your ability to work with others to gain commitment and achieve results.
Participants in the three-part program at UCLA and across UC will be invited to a conference later in the year to share and apply learning with their peers from other campuses.
Participation is limited to 25 attendees, with the expectation that all three modules will be completed. The program fee is $584, including course materials, continental breakfast, lunch and refreshments. Each session is scheduled in the Wilshire Center training facility, Room 1080.
If you are interested in attending or wish to nominate someone in your organization, please register via the UC Learning Center in the Management Development category and send the nominee’s name and title to Rejeana Mathis at rmathis@chr.ucla.edu by February 6, along with a statement regarding the benefit of this program for the nominee’s role as a manager. Participants will be notified of their selection by mid-February. If you have any questions, please contact Rejeana Mathis for program information.
Sincerely,
