UCLA K4 Bargaining Update - Jan. 18, 2022

Bargaining commenced today, January 18, 2022, between the University and Teamsters Local 2010 on behalf of the UCLA Skilled Trades Unit “K4.” The bargaining teams met and exchanged opening remarks recognizing the importance of the negotiations, the past and ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and mutual interest in productive negotiations. Teamsters provided the University with numerous articles containing proposed changes. Teamsters also proposed several new articles and passed current contract language in some existing articles. The University responded to many of Teamsters’ proposals. In articles where Teamsters proposed maintaining current contract language, the University accepted. The University also accepted an article containing changes proposed by Teamsters as it was presented. The University further submitted counter proposals to other Teamsters proposals and passed current contract language for another article. This initial session was highly productive.

Tentative agreements were reached on the following articles:

  • Article 5 – Positions and Appointments
  • Article 6 – Probationary Period
  • Article 31 – Safety Lockout Program
  • Article 38 – Bargaining Unit Work
  • Article 44 – Severability
