Re: Updated Workplace Violence Prevention Policy

Dear Colleagues:

In view of the importance of providing a safe work environment for employees, students, and visitors, we are writing to let you know that UCLA’s Workplace Violence Prevention Policy has been updated following campus-wide review. The policy review was conducted by the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT). As you may be aware, the BIT is comprised of representatives from Employee & Labor Relations, Legal Affairs, the Staff & Faculty Counseling Center, Insurance & Risk Management, and UCPD.

UCLA prohibits violent behavior and threats of harm that affect the workplace or educational environment, and such behavior violates both law and University policy. This policy defines the scope of workplace violence, identifies unacceptable behavior that will be treated as a violation of this policy, and establishes the process to report these behaviors.

Please ensure that employees in your organization are aware of this policy. To learn more about the Behavioral Intervention Team, contact BIT Manager Chris Silva at ccsilva@chr.ucla.edu or (310) 794-0422. He can also assist in scheduling Workplace Violence Prevention training.
