Career Tracks
Career Tracks is the University of California’s systemwide job classification system for managers and policy-covered (non-represented) staff. The implementation of Career Tracks was launched at UCLA in 2020. Campus Human Resources (CHR) worked collaboratively with organizational units in the Administration division and other organizations on campus to review how jobs fit into the classification structure. By the end of 2021 approximately 9,000 positions across the campus were transitioned into Career Tracks titles.
Advantages of Career Tracks:
- Clear job families to help identify career paths across the University as a whole
- Identification of skills needed to progress in a particular occupational field at the University, with consistent job standards across all campuses
- Defined job levels for managers, supervisors, and professional positions to reflect the responsibilities and functions of the position
- Salary ranges that reflect the external job market as well as alignment across the UC system.
