The UCLA and Teamsters Local 2010 K4 Skilled Crafts bargaining teams continued negotiations toward a successor agreement on February 9 and 10, 2026. The parties again made significant progress, reaching tentative agreement on nine items; a list of arbitrators for the grievance procedure; standards for the successful completion of the UCLA Crafts Apprenticeship program; the locations of personnel files and bulletin boards for union access across the UCLA departments and enterprises at which K4 members are employed; health and safety provisions and protocols, including an allotment for the purchase of safety shoes; expanded availability of the Maintenance Mechanic job classification to additional UCLA operations, including Athletics, UNEX, and ASUCLA; meet-and-discuss provisions regarding Health & Welfare Benefits; and the procedure for the application and examination of candidates for Service Engineer positions. The parties also discussed their positions on job classifications and compensation for temporary out-of-class assignments, standards for the retention of records in personnel files, and more. Regarding promotions and other recruitment practices, UCLA’s team engaged the expertise of CHR’s Manager of Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning, at the table. He was instrumental in providing context to the Teamsters as to UCLA’s obligations with respect to federal, state, and local regulations and laws to maintain competitive hiring processes, and confirming the institution’s commitment and interest in encouraging career advancement for incumbent employees. At the conclusion of this week’s negotiations, the parties have reached tentative agreement to approximately 66% of the contract. UCLA and Teamsters Local 2010 are scheduled to meet next on February 23 and 24, 2026.
