Dear Colleagues,
UCLA has consistently provided employment opportunities for our students as a way of providing financial support and offering important professional development experience while completing their education. During this fall quarter, we have hundreds of students who are either living on campus and/or back in the Westwood area. Many of these students are reaching out to various departments seeking employment.
As you know, the campus remains closed to the general public with permission to be on campus limited to staff engaged in essential campus operations. While on-campus work for students may be limited, we recognize that departments may have employment opportunities for students to work remotely. Therefore, a taskforce of multiple campus stakeholders from Student Affairs, Financial Aid and Scholarships, Campus Human Resources and ASUCLA have been meeting to brainstorm ways to support students who are seeking employment. While there will be fewer students seeking employment and, in some areas, fewer on-campus opportunities that can be offered, we encourage you to explore ways in which students can work and contribute to your organizations in the coming months.
To help students identify available positions, we are asking all departments to post opportunities through the Career Center and/or Financial Aid and Scholarships for work-study. The Career Center uses the online platform, Handshake, which allows you to post job opportunities and assist students in finding openings in a quick and seamless manner.
If you have questions or would like additional information please contact, M’Chelle Ryan, mryan@career.ucla.edu, at the Career Center.
Sincerely,
Monroe Gorden, Jr. Lubbe Levin
