Administrative Officers, Deans, Department Chairs, Directors, Vice Chancellors and Vice Provosts

What you need to know:

In recognition of the extraordinary efforts contributed by staff over the past year, the salary program will be implemented as a general increase of 4.6 % to base salary for all eligible policy-covered staff, contingent on approval of the allocation currently in the State budget for the University.

Increases will be processed centrally by CHR or HHR and will be effective June 25, 2023 for employees on bi-weekly payroll and July 1, 2023 for those paid monthly.

Dear Colleagues:

We are very pleased to share the good news that UC President Drake has authorized the Chancellors to move forward with a 4.6% salary increase for eligible policy-covered staff for FY 2023–24, contingent on approval of the allocation currently in the State budget for the University. Pending budget approval from the State Legislature and governor, UCLA will provide the authorized increase to eligible policy-covered staff. In the event that current budget expectations are altered, President Drake will provide an updated announcement at that time.

Chancellor Block and EVC/Provost Hunt will announce the salary program to UCLA faculty and staff within the next several days. Their message will include the caveat that this increase is contingent upon final approval of the state budget.

In recognition of the extraordinary efforts contributed by staff over the past year, the salary program will be implemented as a general increase of 4.6% to base salary for all eligible policy-covered staff. Although the proposed salary program for policy-covered staff is not a merit program where performance is a consideration related to the salary increase amount, the importance of the annual performance review process should not be discounted. All policy-covered staff employees should continue to receive, at least annually, a performance review in accordance with personnel policy.

Increases will be processed centrally by Campus Human Resources (CHR) or Health Human Resources (HHR) and will be effective June 25, 2023 for employees on bi-weekly payroll and July 1, 2023 for those paid monthly.

Guidelines and eligibility criteria are now available. This program does not apply to exclusively represented employees, whose salaries are determined in accordance with applicable collective bargaining agreements and/or meeting-and-conferring under the Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act (HEERA). Guidelines for academic appointees will be issued separately.

For Campus employees, questions may be directed to your organization’s Compensation Consultant and for UCLA Health, including the David Geffen School of Medicine, please contact UCLA Health Human Resources via the Employee Experience Center.
