Re: UCLA Guidelines for Administration of the FY 2017-18 Merit Pay Plan for PPSM Policy-Covered Staff

Dear Colleagues:

We are pleased to distribute the Guidelines for implementing the FY 2017-2018 Merit Pay Plan applicable to Policy-Covered (Non-Represented) Staff, as referenced in the May 2, 2017, memo from Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Scott Waugh.

The merit pool will be 3 percent calculated on the payroll base of eligible filled positions. Merit increases for eligible staff will be effective July 1, 2017, for those on a monthly pay schedule and June 18, 2017, for those paid on a biweekly schedule.

As these are performance-based salary increases, please ensure that performance evaluations are completed, as required by Personnel Policies for Staff Members (PPSM 23). The increase should take into account the accomplishment of assigned responsibilities and performance expectations, position within the salary range, performance relative to other members of the review unit, and the established fund pool.

These guidelines do not apply to exclusively represented employees, whose salaries are determined in accordance with applicable collective bargaining agreements and/or meeting-and-conferring under the Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act (HEERA). In addition, the plan excludes student employees and anyone covered by Academic Personnel Policies.

Information regarding implementation procedures for the campus will be sent to HR administrators by Compensation Services. You may direct questions and comments to Campus Human Resources, Compensation Services at 310-794-0890. For the Health System and School of Medicine, specific implementation guidelines will be issued by Health Sciences Human Resources (310-794-0500).
