The Employee-initiated Reduction In Time (ERIT) Program was extended for a three-year period, effective July 1, 2014, through June 30, 2017. As a result of the extension, Campus Human Resources has been working closely with the University’s labor representatives to secure the unions’ agreement allowing represented employees to participate in the ERIT Program.
For departments that choose to participate in ERIT, an employee may request the department head's approval to voluntarily reduce working time, within specific limits, from a minimum of one month to a maximum of 36 months. For exclusively represented employees, participation in ERIT is subject to agreement by the applicable union.
The following unions have reached agreements with the University concerning the renewal of ERIT: AFSCME (SX and EX), CNA, Teamsters, UAPD and UPTE (HX, RX and TX).
