UCLA K4 Bargaining Update - July 6 and 8, 2022

The University passed a comprehensive package proposal on July 6 which addressed all outstanding articles and provided an economic counterproposal.

UCLA offered a 15.3% wage increase and a $1500 lump-sum payment to every employee in the bargaining unit. Specifically, UCLA proposed the following across-the-board wage increases:

  • July 1, 2022:    4.75%
  • July 1, 2023:    3.25%
  • July 1, 2024:     3.25%
  • July 1, 2025:     3.25%

Additionally, UCLA proposed equity increases in response to Teamsters’ demands for equity increases for the Flooring Installers, Carpenters, and Elevator Mechanics.  UCLA also proposed equity increases for the Painters and Irrigation Mechanics.

UCLA proposed to provide each member of the bargaining unit with $500 per year, on a non-rolling basis, to reimburse training and development costs.  This $300,000 investment recognizes UCLA’s commitment toward its employees’ professional development and career growth.

On July 8, Teamsters proposed an approximate 40% wage increase.  Teamsters also proposed a $7,000 lump sum payment that would cost approximately $4.2 million dollars.
