The University of California embraces diversity in the workplace and is committed to providing a supportive environment for all employees. This October, as UC observes National Disability Employment Awareness Month, staff, faculty and other academic appointees are invited to update the Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability form in UCPath.

As federal contractors, UC campuses and worksites are required by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs to invite all employees to update this form every five years. Our current year is the required timeframe for the University of California to comply.

Self-identification is voluntary and confidential. It is not used as the basis for any employment decisions and every employee has the option of choosing the “I do not wish to answer” option. The information collected helps ensure that UC is accessible and welcoming to persons with disabilities. It also allows UC to have the most accurate data about its employment practices and recruitment efforts. It only takes a few minutes to complete the short form in UCPath, as it asks one question regarding a disability.

For more information about self-identifying a disability and other demographic information, see the FAQs on Self-Identification in the October National Employment Disability Month Flyer with English and Spanish translations.

To self-identify in UCPath follow these steps on the dashboard:

•     Employee Actions
•     Personal Information
•     Disability Status

All employees are encouraged to take a few moments to complete the Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability form in UCPath. Your participation is vital in helping the University of California foster an inclusive and supportive workplace for everyone, and we thank you for your commitment to these important values within the Bruin community.
