Campus Human Resources

To:

Administrative Officers, Deans, Department Chairs, Directors, Vice Chancellors and Vice Provosts

Dear Colleagues:

Campus Human Resources is pleased to call for applications to the 2024 UC Management Development Program (UCMDP). UCLA’s program is aligned with systemwide guidelines that define core management competencies and will address evolving organizational demands, while enhancing leadership skills for effective team engagement and empowerment. We are pleased to let you know that this year UCMDP will be conducted at the Wilshire Center in Westwood to provide the opportunity for participants to strengthen their professional networks.

Attendees will participate in four full-day modules relevant to the University context, including practical application and action planning. The program content is based on the following studies from industry leaders:

March 5: Module 1 – Manager Redefined: Redefine your role as a manager and leader who encourages and guides employees, advances teamwork, inspires trust, and optimizes results. Towers Watson

March 19: Module 2 – Employee Engagement: Create a workplace environment that promotes employee engagement and development. Blessing White

April 9: Module 3 – Exercising Influence: Improve your ability to work with others to gain commitment and achieve results. Barnes and Conti

April 23: Module 4 – Leading Change and Managing Transitions: Develop strategic approaches to making an organizational change. UC Berkeley

Please share this opportunity with eligible employees in positions classified at the Manager 1/Supervisor 2 level and above in Career Tracks or equivalent classification. Participants will be selected via an application process, and there is an expectation that all four modules will be completed. The program fee is $600, including course materials, a light continental breakfast, and lunch. Visit the UCMDP Overview 2024 website for additional information regarding the program.

Interested employees should fill out the 2024 UCMDP Application. (Note: A manager’s letter of support is required to complete the process.) Applications are due by Monday, February 5, 2024.

If you have any questions, please contact Rejeana Mathis, Lead Manager, Learning & Organizational Development, at RMathis@chr.ucla.edu, for program information.
