Re: | Healthy Working Ergonomics Training |
Dear Colleagues:
Beginning this week, all campus and UCLA Health employees will have access to Healthy Working Ergonomics Training (formerly known as BruinErgo). This online training instructs employees on how to set up their computer workstation to optimize comfort, improve productivity, and reduce risks associated with the development of repetitive motion injuries (RMIs). Per Cal-OSHA regulation CCR Title 8 § 5110, employers are required to implement an ergonomics program to minimize RMIs through workstation evaluation, exposure control, and training.
All employees on active pay status can complete the training via the UC Learning Center. Healthy Working Ergonomics Program is comprised of two components: a training module and risk assessment. The training will take approximately 45 minutes to complete. Upon completion of the risk assessment, employees will have the option to request an onsite workstation evaluation.
We strongly encourage all staff who work more than 60% of their normal work schedules at a video display terminal to complete the training within the first 90 days of employment. This includes new hires and transfers. Please note that during the next few weeks, employees represented by the Clerical Unit who were hired in the last 90 days will receive an email reminder to access the training. In-person training is available for employees who do not have access to the UC Learning Center.
Please direct staff to the appropriate Ergonomics Program to request an onsite workstation evaluation:
UCLA Health employees experiencing technical difficulty should email injuryprevention@mednet.ucla.edu for assistance. Campus employees should email training@ergonomics.ucla.edu for assistance. For other questions regarding ergonomics, campus employees should contact IRM Ergonomics at contact@ergonomics.ucla.edu or (310) 825-8455.
Sincerely,
