Professional Development Program Nominations (2019-2020)

Dear Colleagues:

I am writing to encourage nominations for members of your staff to participate in our annual Professional Development Program (PDP). As we plan for the future, it is important to build management competencies, implement strategies to transfer institutional knowledge, and expand career growth opportunities for UCLA’s diverse workforce.

As one of our most successful career development programs, PDP is beginning its 25th year. The program assists the University in the development and retention of a highly skilled, diverse, and motivated professional staff. The program has a demonstrated record of enhancing skills, strengthening institutional loyalty, and broadening participants' knowledge of University affairs.

The program features several components, including advanced skills training, mentoring, coaching, networking, and career assessment. Participants work with department sponsors on special projects of importance to UCLA, enabling them to demonstrate professional skills to campus leaders. Staff members at PSS Grades 2 - 6 and equivalent Programmer/Analyst levels are eligible to participate and must receive departmental endorsement.

The deadline for receipt of completed applications is April 5, 2019, and the program begins in August, 2019. Links to the digital applications, as well as a more information about PDP, are available on the Human Resources PDP website.

If you have any questions about PDP, contact Megan Eigenbrod, Training and Professional Development Coordinator at extension 4-0872, or via email at

Please join us in this opportunity to develop UCLA’s staff leaders for the future.
