Re: | UC Management Development Program |
Campus Human Resources is pleased to announce the 2019 UC Management Development Program and requests nominees for participation in this high-profile development opportunity. This impactful systemwide training program was established to enhance and strengthen leadership capabilities in core management competencies and ensure that managers have the skills, knowledge, and resources to effectively lead, engage and develop staff.
The University of California Office of the President (UCOP) commissioned industry leaders in talent management and leadership development to create a program that is relevant to the evolving demands that University managers face. Input from past participants and an ongoing review of emerging organizational needs help to ensure the program content is current and relevant. Attendees will participate in work-group discussions relevant to the UC context, including practical application and action planning.
The program consists of four full-day modules conducted at the Wilshire Center training facility:
| • | March 6: Module 1 – Manager Redefined: Redefine your role as a manager and leader who encourages and guides employees, advances teamwork, inspires trust, and optimizes results. Towers Watson |
| • | March 20: Module 2 – Employee Engagement: Create a workplace environment that promotes employee engagement and development. Blessing White |
| • | April 11: Module 3 – Exercising Influence: Improve your ability to work with others to gain commitment and achieve results. Barnes and Conti |
| • | April 25: Module 4 – Leading Change and Managing Transitions: Develop strategic approaches to organizational change. Linkage |
The program’s target audience is managers at level PSS5/MSP1 and above (or equivalent classifications), especially those who manage supervisors and/or lead complex programs or projects. Participation is limited to 25 attendees, with the expectation that all four modules will be completed. The program fee is $875, including course materials, a continental breakfast and lunch. Each session is scheduled in the Wilshire Center training facility, Room 1080.
If you are interested in attending or wish to nominate someone in your organization, please register via the UC Learning Center in the Management Development category and send the nominee’s name and title to Lead Manager Rejeana Mathis, Training and Development at rmathis@chr.ucla.edu by February 1, along with a statement regarding the benefit of this program in relation to the nominee’s role. Participants will be notified of their selection in early February. If you have any questions, please contact Rejeana Mathis for program information.
Sincerely,
