Delegation can be one of the most challenging managerial skills to acquire yet, when implemented correctly, can also yield significant positive long-term results for staff, managers, and whole departments. Effective delegation essentially frees time for strategic thinking while providing staff and teams opportunities for increased responsibility, professional growth, autonomy, and confidence. This self-paced course provides supervisors the opportunity to develop essential delegation skills needed for workplace success. By participating in this class, participants will be able to:
- Explain the nature and benefits of delegation
- Recognize and adopt managerial styles and attitudes that support or hinder delegation
- Identify and plan for managerial, employee, and organizational obstacles to delegation
- Practice step-by-step processes for delegation
- Monitor, control, and follow-up on delegated assignments and task

This course counts as a required course toward the Supervisory Leadership Principles Certificate.
Supervisors and managers at all levels are eligible to enroll. All staff and faculty who do not yet supervise others but aspire to supervisory positions are also eligible to enroll.
