Re: Formal Review of Staff Policy (PPSM 21) – Selection and Appointment
Dear Colleagues:
The University of California Office of the President is proposing revisions to Staff Policy 21 – Appointment, including a title change to “Selection and Appointment.”
The revisions are intended to clarify special requirements related to the selection and appointment process. There is expanded content on background checks, including a new section on how to review and assess the background check results, and a new section on reference checks.
The policy applies to staff employees, including those in the Professional & Support Staff personnel program, Managers & Senior Professionals, and positions in the Senior Management Group.
The proposed policy is posted on UCnet.
Because this is a formal review, comments from employees are encouraged and will be considered before a final policy is adopted. We would appreciate your assistance in circulating the draft to policy-covered staff in your organization.
