Re: Proposed Revisions to Presidential Policy on Nondiscrimination and Affirmative Action Regarding Academic and Staff Employment

Dear Colleagues,

The University of California Office of the President is proposing revisions to the systemwide Nondiscrimination and Affirmative Action Policy Regarding Academic and Staff Employment in an attempt to reflect recent amendments of the California Fair Employment and Housing Act and the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) pay transparency rule.

Other revisions to the policy include a name change to “Nondiscrimination, Harassment, and Affirmative Action in the Workplace,” and the addition of language describing free speech and academic freedom protections.

Academic appointees and staff are encouraged to comment on the substance and the drafting of this document; those comments will be considered before the final policy is adopted. We would appreciate your assistance in circulating the drafts within your departments.

Academic appointees may send comments to ovcap@conet.ucla.edu and staff comments may be sent to chr@chr.ucla.edu. Please send responses by Wednesday, December 7, 2016.

Sincerely,

Lubbe Levin
Associate Vice Chancellor
Campus Human Resources

Michael Levine
Interim Vice Chancellor
