While there is support for the opportunity to take time away from Dec. 16 to Jan. 2, concerns were expressed by many employees, including managers, about the impact of this extended period on use of vacation accruals.
UC is proposing a revision to PPSM 2.210: Absence from Work that would increase the pay calculation for Pay for Family Care and Bonding (PFCB) from 70% to 100% of an employee’s eligible earnings. The proposed increase would take effect on January 1, 2023.
As in past years, UCLA is proposing to observe an extended Winter Holiday Closure during the 2022–2023 holiday season. The closure period provides benefits for the Bruin community, including an opportunity to support personal well-being and a healthy work-life balance.

UCLA’s guidelines for implementation of Staff Appreciation and Recognition (STAR) Awards (DOCX) for FY 2022-23 are now available.
The guidelines are consistent with those issued last year and reflect best practices in employee recognition programs. Please note the following plan features, as well as recommendations for implementation:
Check out the new UC Experience Conversations toolkit, developed by a UC systemwide workgroup to support career development and increase retention of our valued employees. Managers and employees who participated in a systemwide pilot found the toolkit valuable and strongly supported sharing its use at all UC locations.
The tools will enhance one-on-one, broad-ranging conversations between managers and staff employees and cover topics such as:

The 17th annual UCLA All-Staff Picnic, jointly sponsored by the UCLA Staff Assembly and the Chancellor’s Office, is scheduled for Thursday, August 18, 2022. Please mark your calendars accordingly.
As in the past, the picnic will be held in Dickson Plaza from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. An invitation to all staff members will be distributed via e-mail in the coming weeks.
